Whoopie's Playtime is a 2D platformer made by Octopus58. It was released as part of the 0.0.56 update to ME-OS with the debut of Zelomedia Splash. There are 30 levels of considerably challenging platforming, especially with "unfair mode" toggled on.
Gameplay
The objective of this game is to get Whoopie through each level without touching any obstacle, as that will result in taking a life and restarting the level from the beginning. The enemies consist of Dereham, Haleaf, Kamotork, Palaka, and Triusotchnik as well as plastic balls, spikes, and little rockets.
Turning on "unfair" mode in the game's options causes certain enemies to behave erratically or slightly different. For example, rockets will fall at inconsistent speeds, Haleaf will start jittering and teleporting within a small radius, Kamotork will speed up as he goes through the screen opposed to staying at a consistent speed, and Dereham will pop up at inconsistent random times. It makes the game considerably more difficult and unpredictable, but speed runs are still possible as the game always resets with the same randomization seed.
Development
The game started development sometime after May of 2023 and ended in September 2023. At one point it was considered that the game would have more than 30 levels, but due to time constraints it was not possible. In regards to the enemy choice in the game, there was no specific reason aside from the fact those characters weren't used in any games yet. They have no adverse relationship with Whoopie, and are in fact friends.
