MandelbrotEX is a visual explorer application of the Mandelbrot fractal. You can zoom into various parts of the fractal, change the gradient for different areas and animate it, and even symmetrize the fractal for beautiful visual effects.

Features

Zooming in on a part of the Mandelbrot fractal in MandelbrotEX for ME-OS version 0.0.58

MandelbrotEX supports panning, zooming, recoloring, symmetrizing, and animating the Mandelbrot fractal. The gradient, animation speed, symmetry, and gradient repeat count are all adjustable from the settings menu that can be toggled in the bottom left of the window. Zooming, panning, and rotating are accessible by remappable controls for both keyboard and controller.

Due to a limitation in shaders in ME-OS not supporting more precise data types than floating point variables, the magnification gets pixelated at a certain zoom level. A work around is still being looked in to.

History

MandelbrotEX originally started out as an experiment for the newly made ME-OS version 0.0.57 windowed framework. Besides Weshrel Sweep and Image Viewer, it was the only visualization focused windowed app planned for the time.

In version 0.0.58, MandelbrotEX gained remappable controls, a feature initially intended but accidentally left out of the 0.0.57 release.
